About Jeevan Jyoti Foundation
Jeevan Jyoti Foundation believes that education is the single most powerful lever to break the cycle of poverty. Since 2009 we have run community learning centres in slums and villages where formal schooling is out of reach.
Our learner-first, non-formal model meets people where they are — children who have dropped out, adults who never learned to read, and young people who need a skill to find work. Every programme is designed with the community, delivered by trained local educators, and measured by real outcomes.

Vision & Mission
Our Vision
A India where no child or adult is denied the chance to learn, regardless of where they are born or what they can afford.
Our Mission
To deliver free, high-quality non-formal education and skills to the most underserved communities, and to bring every out-of-school learner back into the fold of learning.
Core Values
Our History
Jeevan Jyoti began in 2009 as a single evening class for ten children of construction workers in Pune. Word spread, volunteers joined, and within five years the foundation was running learning centres across Maharashtra. Today it operates 40+ community learning centres, a fleet of mobile education vans, and partnerships with state education departments — yet it still measures success the same way it did on day one: by the number of learners who stay in school.

Founder's Story
“I was a schoolteacher who kept losing students to the streets — children who simply could not afford to keep coming. One evening I started teaching ten of them for free under a streetlight. That class never stopped. Jeevan Jyoti is the belief that every one of those children deserved a second chance, and that none of us should look away.”
