Child Rights and You (CRY)   is a premier Indian non-governmental organisation founded in 1979 by Rippan Kapur that works across 20 states to protect fundamental child rights. The organisation addresses critical grassroots gaps and influences public policy by centering its efforts around the four pillars of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child:
Child Rights and You (CRY) has been a driving force in Indian child welfare since 1979, working to ensure that every child enjoys a happy, healthy, and secure childhood. By focusing on the four fundamental pillars of child rights—survival, development, protection, and participation—the organisation tackles systemic issues like child labor, malnutrition, illiteracy, and early marriage. Rather than relying on a direct-aid model, CRY empowers local communities, partners with grassroots NGOs, and interfaces with government bodies to create sustainable, long-term ecosystem shifts across 20 Indian states.
At the heart of its operations are high-impact initiatives like the Community-Based Management of Malnutrition, school retention drives, and the formation of localized child protection committees. CRY bridges immediate resources and policy gaps by upgrading school infrastructure, running specialized health camps, and setting up adolescent collectives that teach children to advocate for their own rights. Through strategic public campaigns, independent research fellowships, and a vast network of volunteers, the organisation continues to transform vulnerable villages and slums into safe, enabling environments where children can thrive.
